Kristina and Michael’s wedding at Kualoa Ranch was the perfect blend of Old-World romance, Golden Age travel inspiration, and the breathtaking natural beauty of Oʻahu. This multi-day celebration captured the hearts of their guests with thoughtfully curated events, stunning design, and cultural touches that honored their love story. Featured in both The New York Times and The Knot National Magazine, this wedding was an unforgettable celebration of love, culture, and connection.

About the Wedding Venue

Capacity: Kualoa Ranch can accommodate weddings of all sizes, from intimate gatherings to grand celebrations of 250+ guests.

Pricing: Venue rental fees range from $2,500 to $6,000 depending on the duration of use.

Amenities: The venue offers exclusive use of its spaces, shuttle services, and breathtaking views. While they do have a "getting ready space" at Paliku Gardens, I do not recommend using this. It is poor lighting and not picturesque for photos. Kristina and Michael opted for Alohilani hotel and the images were very aesthetic.

The couple exchanged vows on Secret Island, a secluded beach with pristine sand and views of Mokoliʻi Island. Inspired by their European travels, the ceremony featured a soft palette of blue and yellow. White cross-back chairs blended seamlessly into the sand, while a custom wooden aisle added a touch of formality to the beach setting. Kristina and Michael also honored Filipino traditions, including a cord ceremony symbolizing infinite commitment and a sand ceremony representing the blending of their lives.

Ceremony on Secret Island

Floral Design: Jeff Alencastre created lush arrangements in soft hues, blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings.

Personalized Decor: Postcard-style guestbook notes, custom signage by Melissa Joy Design, and vintage travel-inspired details infused the day with personality.

Fashion: Kristina wore a stunning Jenny Yoo gown for the ceremony, complemented by elegant jewelry from Kolohe. For other events, she donned designs by Nadine Merabi and Regan Stauffer.

Reception Under the Stars

The alfresco reception embraced the natural beauty of Kualoa Ranch, with delicate string lights and vintage-inspired decor. Escort cards designed as keys invited guests to “unlock” the celebration. In lieu of a traditional photo booth, the couple opted for an elevated lounge booth, inspired by trends spotted at The Knot Gala. Filipino cuisine took center stage, with a signature cocktail featuring calamansi and a full lechon served during cocktail hour.

Design and Styling Highlights

While Secret Island provided a secluded and serene beach setting for Kristina and Michael’s wedding, it is no longer available for events. However, couples can still experience the unmatched beauty of Kualoa Ranch at Paliku Gardens. Nestled beneath the majestic Koʻolau Mountains, Paliku Gardens offers breathtaking panoramic views of lush valleys, the Pacific Ocean, and Mokoliʻi Island. Its spacious lawns and garden settings create an equally magical and versatile venue, perfect for ceremonies and receptions alike.

Welcome Dinner at The Deck, Waikiki

The weekend began with a lively welcome dinner at The Deck Waikiki, a rooftop venue boasting stunning views of Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean. Guests mingled under the warm Hawaiian sunset while enjoying a casual and engaging atmosphere. The evening featured a “make-your-own welcome bag” station, allowing everyone to create personalized mementos for the weekend ahead.

Pre-Wedding Festivities

Rehearsal Dinner at The Pig & The Lady

The rehearsal dinner took place in the private upstairs room at The Pig & The Lady, a celebrated family-run Vietnamese restaurant. With its vibrant flavors and heartwarming story rooted in Asian-American immigrant culture, the venue was a meaningful choice for Kristina, who champions AAPI-owned businesses. The intimate space provided a cozy backdrop for heartfelt toasts and a delicious, family-style meal.
