Secret Island Wedding? Yes, please! Kualoa Ranch is one of Oahu’s most popular wedding venues. This venue has many different options for ceremony and reception locations, but there is something special about their Secret Island option. Accessible only by boat, all guests are escorted across the pond. Not only is this exclusive location a unique and fun experience for wedding guests, but it is a stunning location to say “I do.”
Lauren and Ian got ready at a nearby hotel, Queen Kapiolani. In a stunning suite, they were able to host all of their closest loved ones. Renting rooms at a nearby hotel is a great way to accommodate traveling guests and have a beautiful photogenic location for getting ready pictures.

Before heading to Kualoa Ranch for their Secret Island wedding, Lauren and Ian had a first look in front of a Banyan tree just outside the hotel. The area was a bit crowded. We were still able to maneuver around the people and cars and it was such a special moment. The whole world seemed to disappear. This is the beauty of adaptable wedding days! Being able to make any spot work. See how good the photos turned out!

After their first look, Lauren and Ian headed down to Kualoa Ranch! Secret Island is actually across the street from the ranch about a mile down. It shares the same address as Moli’i Gardens, but instead of getting married at the gardens your entire wedding party gets on the boat to head down to the island!
Now, technically, Secret Island is not an island. If you wanted to walk the beach from Kualoa beach park you would eventually run into the same beach the boat takes you to. But it is not easy to get there! Sometimes, during high tide, you may even have to wade through the water. The beach is not a crowded one which makes it feel even more intimate.
After all of your guests get across the pond on a boat, they make their way through a forest which comes out to the beach side. This is where the ceremony set up will be! The only downside of having a Secret Island wedding is there are no receptions held on location. Many people head back to their hotels after the ceremony to hold a small reception at the restaurants. Lauren and Ian chose Dukes, but the Deck at Queen Kapiolani is also an excellent location for wedding receptions! We are getting off track, so let me show you the magic that is a Secret Island wedding at Kualoa Ranch!
It’s truly a magical location! To get a better idea of the whole feel of the day, view some additional highlights of Lauren and Ian’s Secret Island wedding.
And, of course, what wedding is complete without the majestic couples photos? I am not exaggerating when I say this is the most beautiful couples sessions I’ve ever done. Just when the beach seemed too good to be true, we went to the dock. Just when the dock seemed otherworldly, we got on the boat. There is no shortage of picturesque locations at Kualoa Ranch’s Secret Island.
And there we have it! One of our favorite wedding locations if you’re an off-beat adventurous bride looking for a unique wedding experience. If you’re interested in seeing some of our other favorite wedding locations, check out our blog post: Best Oahu Wedding Venues.
